Welcome on board the frigate Shtandart! Here, you can really travel 300 years back in time and experience what it was like to be an 18th century sailor.
The frigate Shtandart is an exact copy of the ship built by Peter the Great in 1703 for the defence of St. Petersburg. The modern Shtandart, built in 1999, is an active sail training ship. Today, anyone can become a member of the friendly crew of the Shtandart, dive into living history, learn new skills, and test themselves in sea sailing conditions. Sailing on this historic wooden frigate is an exciting adventure, allowing you to immerse yourself in the atmosphere of a bygone era, have new, unique experiences, and meet interesting, passionate people. Everyone on board becomes an active participant in the ship’s life and operation.

NEW YEAR SAILING WITH SHTANDART
Join us for a festive New Year’s voyage aboard the Shtandart!
On December 26, embark at 4 p.m. in La Rochelle (boarding by dinghy), and the following day, we’ll set sail on an unforgettable journey. We’ll follow the wind’s lead to make the most of our sails and explore wherever the breeze takes us. By December 31, we’ll return to La Rochelle, to the anchorage or to the port to celebrate New Year’s Eve with an incredible maritime party. Disembarkation will take place on January 2, throughout the day. Set sail with us for a New Year to remember!
Dear friends, we are currently unable to provide you with a long-term sailing plan.
Replicas of historical ships have been included in the EU’s anti-Russian sanctions package [details here].
We have filed lawsuits to contest this decision, which appears to serve someone’s personal agenda rather than the intended purpose of the sanctions. Legal processes take time, and while the courts deliberate, the ship is forced to move from one anchorage to another.
This is why our planning horizon is limited to just a few days at a time.
Although we are unable to conduct our voyages as usual at the moment, if you would like to share in this challenging journey aboard, please send a volunteer application to voyage@shtandart.eu. Introduce yourself and explain why you wish to join us. You can learn more about our traditional volunteer program [here].
