Late February signals the imminent arrival of spring, and it’s the perfect time to set sail! Departing once again from the beloved port of La Rochelle, our course is set towards the picturesque Spanish coast. Covering approximately 500 nautical miles, our journey crosses the renowned Bay of Biscay—an area known for its winter storms, the Atlantic Ocean’s largest swells, and a significant depth of 4550 meters.

Fear not! By joining the crew of the Shtandart, you’ll gain the skills to navigate any winds and storms. We’re eager to teach you the intricacies of handling sails, steering the helm, and managing the rigging. As we immerse ourselves in the daily life of 18th-century sailors, we’ll arrive at the warm shores of Spain.

Our first destination is the port city of Vigo, famous for its picturesque fishing quarter of Berbés and a charming cove watched over by the ancient fortress of Castro. Upon disembarking, you’ll have the opportunity to explore the old town, visit the modern art museum, and for the adventurous, take a dip in one of Galicia’s most famous beaches—Samil.

Accommodation and Amenities:

Choose to sleep in a hammock, just like sailors did three centuries ago, or opt for a bunk. Both at sea and onshore, we provide four meals a day. Life on board is divided into watches, in which you will actively participate throughout your stay.
