New mermaids on the ship

We recently completed renovation of the ship – on December 5, Shtandart moved out of dry dock!

 While we perform routine maintenance every winter, this year presented some unusual tasks. One long-planned project was the replacement of the wooden mermaids that adorned the stern of the ship since its construction. Crafted at the Shtandart shipyard in St. Petersburg, the new mermaids made a unique journey courtesy of the friendly sailing ship Amazon—traversing Murmansk, Norway, Denmark, and France!

Each mermaid has a real-life prototype—a tribute to the remarkable women sailors who have dedicated their souls to our ship for many years.
