Finally, the long-awaited month of May. From La Rochelle, we set sail towards the most beautiful cliffs of Normandy, in the picturesque Fecamp.
Circling around Brittany, our route will take us through the Bay of Biscay, the Celtic Sea, and the English Channel. In total, the journey will cover about 500 nautical miles, which we will navigate in 7 days and 6 nights. Yes, our frigate sails the seas and oceans 24 hours a day, and our brave sailors diligently stand night watches, monitoring the sails, the course, and the wind.
Have you ever dreamed of being at sea, listening to the waves against the hull, and gazing at the starry sky? If so, this voyage is undoubtedly for you! Here, we will teach you how to handle the ropes, tie maritime knots, furl the sails, and most importantly, live within a tight-knit team. Because nowhere else but on a ship is it crucial to feel like an integral part of the crew, to assist each other, and to accomplish tasks cohesively.
Normandy is unique and incomparable, and approaching on the replica of an 18th-century sailing ship, you will discover a magnificent view of its famous chalk cliffs, known as the Alabaster Coast. To admire and immortalize these fabulous landscapes, renowned impressionist artists such as Claude Monet, Renoir, Pissarro, Degas, Van Gogh, and many others specifically visited here. If you are passionate about this artistic movement, following in the footsteps of the impressionists and visiting charming nearby towns like Étretat, Saint-Valery-en-Caux, Dieppe, and Honfleur could be an essential source of inspiration.
Fécamp is also a charming town. As a Benedictine abbey, its main attraction is the Benedictine Palace, built in neo-Gothic and neo-Renaissance styles in 1898. Inside is a museum, with a collection mainly consisting of items related to the production of the famous liqueur, made from 27 different plants and spices. Moreover, sailors and pilgrims from different parts of France often use the palace’s bell tower as a landmark.
Don’t miss the opportunity to embark on an unforgettable adventure aboard the Shtandart. Join our crew, we’re hoisting the sails!
