Shtandart

About organization

Shtandart was realized and is still maintained primarily by volunteers passionate about maritime heritage. All people involved are physically based aboard the ship, and all decisions regarding its operation, direction, and activities are made on board. The captain and builder who resides on the ship full-time, leads the crew in the decision-making process.

Experienced naval officers and shipbuilders dedicate their time and effort to teaching and training new sailors and thus preserving maritime heritage and providing unique educational opportunities.

Since 2009, the ship has been traveling all over Europe without a home port, taking on board volunteers and trainees from all over the world. The official ship agent, Martus TV GmbH, is owned by Captain Martus, and based in Hamburg.

Trainees

Trainees

Everyone who goes to sea on the Shtandart ship becomes a member of the crew. We don't have passengers; all participants in the voyage experience real sea life: keeping watches, standing at the helm, setting the sails, and bracing the yards. You will also have the opportunity to put your new knowledge of meteorology into practice, plotting a route using a map and working with a sextant. Don’t hesitate to ask questions; our professional crew is always happy to share their knowledge
