Sail South to Tangier: A Voyage Aboard the Frigate Shtandart

Set sail this October on a one-of-a-kind adventure from Cascais, Portugal, to the legendary port city of Tangier, Morocco. Aboard the Shtandart — a faithful replica of an 18th-century frigate — you’ll journey down the Iberian coast, cross the Strait of Gibraltar, and sail into the cultural crossroads between Europe and Africa.

Live the Age of Sail
This is no ordinary cruise — it’s an immersive voyage into the world of traditional seafaring. As a full member of the crew, you’ll take part in every aspect of life aboard a square-rigged ship:

  • Set and trim the sails, haul lines, and stand watch
  • Take the helm and navigate by chart, compass, and stars
  • Climb the rigging and feel the Atlantic wind high above deck

Whether you’re a seasoned sailor or embarking on your first sea adventure, the Shtandart offers hands-on training and unforgettable camaraderie at sea.

Charting a Historic Course
Sailing past the cliffs of southern Portugal and into the storied waters of the Strait of Gibraltar, you’ll follow in the wake of explorers, traders, and privateers. Each mile south brings warmer winds, stunning coastal views, and a deeper connection to maritime history.

Your destination, Tangier, has welcomed sailors for centuries — now it’s your turn to arrive under sail.
