There is no obligation to have AIS emissions for a ship the size of the Shtandart.

Good Morning,
to All the Crew of ” The Shandart ” ,
Welcome firstly to our Irish waters surrounding Dun Laoghaire Harbour on the east coast of Ireland near Dublin and our ancient pier of Cullimore Harbour. It is great to see such a beautiful sailing ship as yours in our waters.
I am just an ordinary housewife and pacifist living near Dun Laoghaire Pier and as such am supporting Ukraine in the recent war,
It is so sad that these political and social problems affect us all so much and I’m hoping for a speedy and peaceful resolution to this war.
It is great you are a training ship and I would like to wish you a peaceful and safe passage on your voyages and hope you are enjoying our beautiful weather now !
Best regards ,from just an ordinary housewife , peace to all from Yvonne O’Neill

I know Vladimir almost 20 years now, maintain his Dutch and English Wiki-pages, and as such, I have seen the start of everything…..
This project is a purely privat entertaining. Founded as educational project with only privat input of privat people, internationally based ideas and support! Dutch and English high officials visited and supported the project while it was built. The Russian gouvernment does not allow the ship in Russian harbours!!!
I have spoken to Vladimir many times, have been on the ship when she visited the Netherlands, sailed on it and found that the atmosphere on board is very far away from Moskou

What happens now is a disgrace to the European idea of working together and going for peace! NOT THIS RIDICULOUS WAR IN THE EUROPEAN WATERS !!!
25 years free spirit!
stay safe !

You have a strong character & team, I hope everything will turn out alright.
I have only found out about this ship because of this bulling campaign and it looks incredibly fun. Now I am thinking about taking a journey with you once situation normalizes,.

Any reason why your AIS is always cut off, in infraction with European law ?

If you want to be accepted, you need to accept the rules. If you don’t, don’t cry if you are banned !

Dear Cedric,
thank you very much for your reply. Your text should be published on Facebook and VK because it is difficult to find here and so many other people want to know what is ongoing. (And I wonder if you read my answer at all.)
Good that you succeeded to talk. It is so ridiculous that people who are against Putin’s war also fight against eachother. I hope the main hate preachers changed their minds.
I hope you will switch your AIS on when you arrive in Spain!

Sorry, the communication is lagging behind the unfolding events. My bad, but we have all been very busy walking/talking/printing/driving. Personally, I’ve never been so much sleep deprived than those last few days. An “official” statement is under way.

Long story short:

We had a public meeting and after only 3 days of walking all around the festival and inviting other crews, about 60 sailors came to support us, which is three times as much as the largest flash-mob our detractor ever managed to assemble.
Our detractors, who have promised on their blog that they would be waiting for us with eggs and flour (we brough some milk, thinking we could do pancakes), they were only 4 or 5, including the lobbyist who have been harassing us since the beginning. And despite what’s been told in the newspapers, we managed to talk ; not only during the meeting, but also after.

Personally, I’m quite happy with the result:
– Many sailors came to support us, some who couldn’t wrote nice supportive messages. Many displayed a sign of support on their ship or on the pontoon.
– There was no troubles, so the usual excuse from the police to forbid the Shtandart in a festival (“trouble à l’ordre public”) is now demonstrably false.
– We started to talk to each others ; we discovered that some at least of our most vocal opponents can be of good faith, and I think some might have done the same discovery. Contacts were exchanged, the discussion is ongoing, even if we still do not agree on many important points at least we have stopped to hate each others. Amazingly, idealism, sometime, do work.

Meanwhile, we have been preparing the trip to Vigo, which implies:
– paint Avatiu in various places as the new official homeport of the ship (with parrots and palmtrees in the stern? yes? no?)
– fixing/replacing parts of the ship (if you struggle with amazon deliveries, imagine getting parcels delivered to a ship that is not allowed to enter a port)
– receive a new main-sail and store it somewhere until we have the horsepower to rig it
– resupply the ship with food using the dinghy ; Thankfully friendly people in Benodet helped by paddling to the boat with croissants in the morning, some with bread, some with bottles of happiness, and the local youth sailing club bringing several cubic meters of fresh water in jerrycans that we poured into our tanks!

The Shtandart is now sailing straight to Spain, with more determination and less plans than ever before 🙂

Jean-Charles Lasonner is the only deputy who opposed “Standart”. Paul Bohec, an affable young journalist from Le Télégramme, is the paper’s best when it comes to the Standard. Finally, we have a real star – Laetitia Jacques-Haldeano. […] She is primarily responsible for the fact that the “Standard” was banned in the ports of Finisterre. She is number 2 in the Breton edition of Ouest France.
This sounds as if Shtandart is only banned from ports of Finistere. Perhaps she is not banned from ports south of Finistere: Lorient and La Rochelle. This should be checked!
Anyway, here you can see the names of some responsible persons who should first learn something about a matter before making a judgment.
