Dear Mr. Sullivan,
Sail training vessel Shtandart has been build in Russia and sails all over Europe since, I thought, 2000. Over the years they went through tremendeous difficulties with the Russian gouvernment and het Master is living in excile, years before the Russian invasion of Ukraine was on hands.
Shtandart was already in the surviving modus and should not be compared with any oligarch.
I think the exclusion of Shtandart is a counterproductive measure and a threat to the fragile European maritime heritage.
Please do whatever is in your power or influence to improve Shtandarts position in this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00ab SHTANDART \u00bb d\u00e9finitivement \u00e9loign\u00e9 du littoral Finist\u00e9rien et vraisemblablement du littoral Fran\u00e7ais, certains pourraient croire, voire victoire diplomatique. La CGT des Marins du Grand Ouest per\u00e7oit ce bannissement comme un \u00e9chec pour la Paix, Comme une forme de l\u00e2chet\u00e9 et d\u2019un non-respect pour ceux qui naviguent sur le navire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aucun escale ne sera possible, y compris en cas de besoin d\u2019assistance technique, qui sont celles et ceux qui osent et prennent de telles d\u00e9cisions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ce navire et ces Marins jeunes Marins charpentiers pour bon nombre d\u2019entre eux n’ont rien \u00e0 voir avec la politique politicienne. \u00ab Cette forme de discrimination est inacceptable \u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pour la CGT des Marins du Grand Ouest toutes les f\u00eates Maritimes doivent \u00eatre ouvertes \u00e0 tous les Marins, quel que soit leur Nationalit\u00e9 et le Pays !<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I am writing you this mail concerning the sailing vessel Shtandart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We, the Nautisch Evenementen Bureau , are specialists in organizing major maritime events in the Netherlands and the UK and have been working in close corporation with our Belgium and French colleagues.  Since 2005 we have been working with the vessel Shtandart at majors events like Sail Amsterdam 2005, 2010, and 2015, Flushing 400 year Michiel de Ruyter, Tall Ship Festival Greenwich, the  Liberty Regatta Rouen \u2013 Scheveningen  and a few minor events. The vessel is a major attraction for the public and captain Vladimir Martus and his crew have been a very loyal and trustworthy partner over the years!!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Shtandart is one of the best copies of old traditional  sailing vessels. She is true replica of the first Russian Frigate that was build around 1703 by Tsar Peter the Great in Zaandam, Netherlands. She is true heritage of the European sailing fleet!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although she is sailing under the Russian flag, the captain\/owner and the crew are very much part of the European sailing community and it would be a waist that this ship cannot find a place nor license\/permit to sail in European waters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I strongly call upon you to seek ways, even if they are an exception to the \u201crules\u201d,  use your creativity and courage to arrange for a permission for the Sailing Vessel Shtandart to sail in our European waters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hier geht es um eine in Seenot geratene (internationale!) Besatzung eines Schiffes. Hier gelten ausschlie\u00dflich die seit ewigen Zeiten geltenden Regeln der Seefahrt. Das ist in etwa gleichzusetzen wie verwundete Soldaten der gegnerischen Seite. Wer hier die gebotene Hilfe aus politischen Gr\u00fcnden versagt, macht sich strafbar und muss von einem internationalen Gericht abgeurteilt und bestraft werden. Das ist ein eindeutiger Versto\u00df gegen das vom Westen so viel ger\u00fchmte Menschenrecht.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Je connais ce bateau et son capitaine que j’ai rencontr\u00e9 lors de l’armada de rouen en 2023, mon bateau libertalia \u00e9tait a cot\u00e9 de lui, nous avons \u00e9chang\u00e9 avec l\u2019\u00e9quipage ” qui m’a piqu\u00e9 mon pavillon pirate au passage pour d\u00e9filer avec \ud83d\ude04 ” il y a des russes et des ukrainiens dans l\u2019\u00e9quipage qui partagent la joie de faire vivre ce bateau…les sanctions contre ce bateau sont ridicules.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I sailed on the Shtandart myself and got to know the captain and the wonderful crew. This is indeed an example of promoting international friendship and has nothing to do with the regime in Russia. It’s sad to see this wonderful project under threat<\/p>\n\n\n\n
